Announcement for Website – New discussion forum
For January 2017 we will have a discussion forum on the website allowing parents, teachers and club organisers to ask questions and share opinions. We hope that by doing this we can embrace your good ideas, improve communication and build the Chess Challenge moving forward.
– You will be pleased to know the trophies in the school packs this year have been improved. – Each child will receive a certificate and those who qualify will receive a certificate saying they have qualified.
– In terms of Megafinals we have taken onboard the issues with county boundaries and players are now advised to attend the Megafinal closest to their school. Children are allowed to attend another Megafinal but they will not be eligible for the trophy. – Children in the U12 group and above will automatically qualify for the Megafinal. This is to encourage children to continuing playing chess once they go to secondary school. Secondary schools can still enter the school stage of the Challenge.
– Players aged over 11 only need 3.5/6 to qualify to the Gigafinals this year!
– Megafinal organisers will the given software, so the pairings can be computerised and not manual.
