The nearest rail station is London Road situated a half mile walk from the venue. For more information on planning travel via public transport please visit https://tfl.gov.uk/plan-a-journey/
Food and refreshments
An ice cream van and a burger van will be operating outside of the premises. You are welcome to bring your own refreshments and there also many shops available within a short walking distance.
Parents / guardians are responsible for their children outside of the playing halls. During the game parents are not allowed in the playing hall. Please arrange a meeting point with your child so that after their game they know where to find you.
Health and safety
Members of the organising team are qualified first aiders.
Members of the organising team will be clearly identifiable as they will be wearing lanyards. Please feel free to approach any of the team with questions and they will be happy to help. Our staff are volunteers working hard to make the day as enjoyable and stress free as possible and we appreciate your help in helping us with that aim.
Running an event such as this is a large undertaking and we would be delighted to receive any offers of help from parents. If you would like to help in any way please contact firstname.lastname@example.org or please speak to one of the team on the day.
A book stall will be being run by Gareth Ellis of Wholesale Chess.
These will be published as soon as possible before the start of the next round. Please do not enter the playing hall until you know your opponent and board number. The easiest way to view pairings will be on chess-results.com – more information will be provided on the day.
General rules and grading
This is an ECF rapid play graded event. For the tournament rules and grading please click here
Unfortunately, we do get the odd dispute – particularly amongst the younger children. For 2018 we have published a disputes policy and code of conduct which we encourage you to read here
Please note that it is a condition of entry that parents and children agree to abide by this policy.
